"Progress is incremental. Little steps add up over time. The important thing is to show up to your practice and trust in the process."
Teacher Bio:
I am Emma Lassiter, and I am excited to join the IHM community this year as the Spanish, Library, and Physical Education teacher.
I aim to share my love of languages with the students through Spanish and French. I hope that my students will find the joy and novelty of expression in a second language as they discover new words, challenge themselves with different grammar, and cultivate an appreciation for diverse cultures.
Like Spanish class, the library is a place where students can learn about new places and explore different perspectives. I am passionate about stories, and believe there is a book for everyone.
I hope to bring a holistic approach to physical education, emphasizing the joy of movement, the connection between physical and mental wellbeing, and habits for a healthy lifestyle.
I taught English as a second language at a middle school in Dieulefit, France as part of the Teaching Assistant Program in France 2022-23 cohort through France Éducation International. My bachelor’s degree is in creative writing with a minor in French from the University of Central Arkansas. I was Editor-in-Chief of UCA’s The Vortex Magazine of Literature and Fine Art and have worked as a copy editor for numerous adult and children’s books from local publisher Et Alia Press. I also coached figure skating in the Learn to Skate program at Eccles Ice Center in Logan, Utah. In my free time, I enjoy figure skating and aerial silks.
